When visiting Zhucun primary school, the cold wind was torturing our faces, and we were soaked constantly in the coldness. Running into the campus, and surprisingly, we found out some kids wearing plimsolls in such a cold weather. The teacher told the journalists that Li Jingyi from 6th grade lives with her little sister and her father because her parents divorced. Her father was in bad health and is even paralyzed in bed. They have lost the income and are just managed to survive by basic living allowances. It is hardly possible for the family to care for which shoes and clothes the kids wear. ‘Thanks, uncle and auntie, after I have these warm shoes, I don’t need to worry about this winter’. Li Jingyi was very happy after getting her shoes, and kept expressing gratitude to the staff.
Liu Haoyu in the 1st grade is one of the left-behind children. His parents divorced and his mother left them. After that, his father went to Lishui for work, so he lives with his grandmother now. Grandma is very old, even though she can feed him, she cannot remind him timely to stay warm because of the cold weather. On the playground of the campus, Liu got a pair of beautiful cotton-padded shoes, he was so happy that he changed into them and wandered a while on the playground.
The little shoes contain the love towards the kids from Yunhe Master Association. ‘Yunhe masters were cultivated and developed from farmers; they are always attached with peasant, countryside and agriculture. When the cold wave comes, kids are our concern.’ The head of the Association expressed, ‘We also bought 180 pairs of shoes for city cleaners, ‘The Beauticians of the City’, and hope the cotton shoes will keep them work on their way home. Besides, we arranged 1500 rmb to visit the poor households, and we hope that our little regards can bring warmth to them in this cold winter.’ (Yunhe County Government Office)
