As the radiating village of the scenic spot, the window of She, the living of villagers in Quankeng originally relied on production of moso bamboo, planting and export of labor services. The tourism industry developed very slowly, and the livelihood of the villagers was not rich. During recent years, with great location advantages and special cultural resources, Quankeng turned to benefiting the people and prospering the village in the emigrant area. And it is dedicated to build the area into a cluster of characteristic home-stays.
The first thing is to inject She culture into daily life. Make home-stay for rural travel as the front window of demonstrating She culture. Based on the promotion of ‘Ten huge bowls’ of She, construction of She houses, and rendering of She culture, etc., adjust and formally set up the singing team of She, undertaking events such as creation of She songs, publicity, performance, and reception, etc. Meanwhile encourage staff of tourism to wear She costume, learn She language, and maximize the influence of She culture. The second thing is to experience She culture. For instance, as the society develops, people has less feelings for traditional She customs. Yet we actively plan for a wedding ceremony in She custom, and appeal villagers and tourists to participate the sections such as giving names, sending the bride away, stepping on the street and singing one to one, redemonstrating the old tradition and making the performance back to this land. Besides, washing the well and splashing water, campfire party, She singing competition, etc., combine the tradition with contemporary tourism, enabling tourists to understand, accept, and be affected by She culture during their appreciation and experience. Third, we should inherit She taste in a dynamic process. In addition to the highly ornamental Ethnic Cultural Celebrating activity, the She crafts with fancy style and various shapes are also welcomed by the tourists. Since last year, with the help of the opportunity of the big exam, museums such as She Embroidery Museum, She Cloth Shoes Museum and She Clothing Experience, following the establishment of Folk Museum, to offer more choices for the tourists, as well as visualizing the She culture. The She culture is spread in the process of purchasing She crafts and experience.
At present, the area consists of 14 farm-stays, among which there are 14 B & B with 105 beds and can serve meals for 800 people at maximum. According to incomplete statistics, during the Spring Festival this year, the number of tourists vising Quankeng reached 14 thousand and the farm-stays have an income of 19 thousand yuan, which increased 10% and 12% respectively than last year. At the end of last year, the construction of Quankeng as a Municipal Beautiful Economic Demonstration Village was established successfully.
