With the approaching of the Qingming Festival, people began to clean up the graves and worship the ancestors. Compared to the past years, there are a lot of people who go to the ecological cemetery in Yunhe County this year, and the new style of civilized sacrifice was deepened.
Since the new round of reform of funeral and interment, the Yunhe Civil Affairs Bureau has constantly innovating the workingmethod, strengthening the implementation of the new funeral and interment policy, actively advocating the ecological funeral and burial, to achieve "Once at Most " funeral service through the ‘Two Sending and Five Gauranteeing’ activity. At present, 79 village level public cemeteries have been built, covering 109 administrative villages in the county.
"Through the reform of funeral and interment, we have greatly improved the land utilization rate, and beautified the environment in a further step, so as to provide effective land resources for development," responsible person from the Yunhe Civil Affairs Bureau told the reporter that the reform of the funeral and interment in Chengzhai Village, Bailongshan Street, is a good example.
In the July of 2012, Yunhe county brought up the policy to exploit the space of low hills and lands, so the ancestral tomb of Chengzhai village faced the risk of removal. However, through multi- lateral research and efforts, the 122 scattered ancestral tombs of the village was concentrated in a grave of 4 m2. Since then, Yunhe has spared an area of over 1,000 mu, and a new industrial zone was built on the original space of the tombs. It is known that the ecological burial is also the first example in the province.
‘The co-burial of the ancestors is a new measure of the ecological burial initiated by Yunhe. Before this, the ancestral tombs were scattered in the mountains and woods around the village. Yet we made the specific policy according to the local condition and made use of the feature to propagate the ecological burial policy to each household, and to concentrate the tombs of over 120 households into one. At last, the resources were saved and remarkable effects are seen,’ Says relevant people in charge.
It is known that up till now, the county has completed the afforestation of 7485 non-ecological tombs, and recovered over 180,000 m2 green lands, achieving 100% in the management rate of ‘Whitening of the Green Hills’, the ecological burial coverage rate, and the cremation rate of cremation area, and better promoting the beautification of ecological environment and the intensive utilization of the land resources.
