‘With the autumn breeze coloring the fields, the red industry creates a new chapter for the village.’ In Luxi village, Maoyang Township, the ‘Red Army Provision’ welcomed a good harvest in late summer and early autumn.

Luxi village, Maoyang township, is located in the southwest of Jingning County, and is 2.8 km away from Mao Yang. Its location is very remote with inconvenient transportation. Most of the villagers left are old people doing farm works. During an inspection by the township Party committee and government in 2017, it was discovered that Luxi village was an old revolutionary base area in east Fujian, Zhejiang, where general Ye Fei once stationed to direct operations. Taking this opportunity, Luxi village has since vigorously developed ‘red culture’ and ‘red tourism’, and changed the original situation of being unknown.

Using the new industry to drive the old industry is the new goal of Luxi Village, which has thus formed the ‘red industry’, and the ‘Red Army Provision’ is one of them. According to the actual situation of the village, Luxi village provides guidance to the farmers at home, and puts forward the grain technology and experience for several decades, scientifically plans the number of mu, and expands the planting area of the red rice on the basis of planting white rice, the ‘Red Army Provision’ has provided new ideas and a new platform for the basic industry. This year, the grains of rice in the terraced fields are full and delightful, which makes the villagers smile happily. ‘We do not need to worry about getting rid of poverty; we have figured out the way in our own home; this industry helps us to increase income.’ This is what the villagers often say now.

The bumper harvest of the ‘Red Army Provision’ has strengthened people's confidence in the ‘red industry’ in making it bigger and stronger. They aimed to make great achievements with the little grains. (Zhang Zhijian, Jingning County Government Office)
