With breeze and clear sky, the autumn is filled with yellow gains. A few days ago, 2018 ‘Beautiful She Township, Harvest in Jinging’ the Autumn Harvest Event of the first "China Peasant Harvest Festival" theme event, was held in Wubu Village, Zhengkeng Township. Known as the "Living Museum of the She Zu", Zhengkeng Township attracts thousands of visitors to appreciate the autumn harvest scenery with a traditional farming activity that traverses the original version thousands of years ago.
Chen Chong, the deputy mayor and secretary of the County Party Committee attended the event.
The autumn of the She Village in Zhengkeng was full of harvests. The most beautiful scenery of this autumn is created by the rice waves, the simple and sumptuous She people, and the melodious folk songs floating in the rice fields. The program of the event is wonderful, which included the She Zu villagers welcoming guests, the She people praying for harvest, the terrace harvesting the grains….. the little She village is overwhelmed with the taste of autumn and She culture.
Zheng Gangqiang, who came from Wencheng, Wenzhou, to attend the autumn harvest event, said: “Here we see the most original ecological culture of the She Zu, experiencing the most traditional farming civilization, eating the most delicious pig feast. Although the driving was tired, it is worthwhile to do so”.
The "high praise" from the tourists comes from the "painstaking efforts" of the Zheng Keng township.
Zhengkeng Township has an average elevation of 660 meters above sea level and has a registered population of 3,368, of which 1,448 are She people, accounting for 43% of the total population. Zhengkeng Township has the highest proportion of Shes in the county and is also a traditional agricultural township. The township has completely preserved the original living customs of the She Zu, and a number of "Intangible Culture Heritage" projects, such as She ancestor worship, teaching and learning rituals, ribbon weaving, and She Wushu, have been effectively inherited and carried forward here.
‘Visit Jingning for the She culture in China. It preserves the purest, most concentrated and most original ecological farm houses, the farming, and the She tribal environment. The last pure ecological residential area of She nationality is in Zhengkeng!’ An agricultural expert once gave this comment to Zhengkeng.
Since the beginning of this year, with the background of the rural revitalization, Zhengkeng township has based itself on the advantages of ecology and the She nationality, and has followed the development orientation of ‘three colors and five innovations’, focusing on highlighting the new value of she culture and embedding in the She tradition. Traditional farming activities, such as cattle ploughing, paddy threshing, mud burning, wood chopping and fire burning, soil cultivation, fishing, hunting, rice pounding and weaving were completely activated with the integration of the township party committee and township government. The township has held ‘Bench Terrace singing culture festival’, ‘Plow Festival’, ‘Bench Terrace Photography Festival’ and other farming culture festival, gradually created a very special rural revitalization road for Zhengkeng.
‘This activity demonstrates the traditional farming culture of She nationality and promotes the organic integration of traditional culture and modern civilization. It lets the broad masses of peasants participate in the theatrical performances, mobilizes the enthusiasm and initiative of the peasants, and conforms to the expectations and needs of the broad masses of peasants for a better life. It uses the festivals as a medium for the release of emotion, and the enhancement of people’s sense of happiness and pride. Lei Jiechang, secretary of the Party committee of Zhengkeng Township, said that in the future, the township would continue building a unique culture of She nationality, holding onto the integrated development of the ‘one, two, and three’, sing the three-step song, activate the original gene, and create a new chapter for the She tribe.
