The first United Nations World Geographic Information Conference Performance was carried out in Deqing Gymnasium, Zhejiang Province, in the evening of November 20th, 2018. Jingning, She Village, was invited to participate in the show, which fully displayed the most distinctive ribbon weaving skills of the She Nationality in front of people all over the world. The traditional She customs were brought into the world-class stage, which has been widely concerned by the media and the masses at home and abroad.
The United Nations World Geographic Information Conference is hosted by the United Nations and co-sponsored by the Ministry of Natural Resources of China and the People's Government of Zhejiang Province. It is the largest and highest-level United Nations-sponsored geographical information conference. The theme of the Congress was ‘Building a Better World Together with a Blueprint for Space’, aiming at enhancing communication, understanding, recognition and application of geospatial information management; it also aims at promoting the better support of the geographic information and technology in different countries to the implementation of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and address the development challenges that the local, countries and the global faces.
The performance started with "A Letter to 2030", and is divided into three chapters with the theme of ‘The Same Dream of A Blue Sky’: the first chapter ‘From the Ancient to the Present’, the second chapter ‘The Resonance of Mountains and Waters’, and the third chapter ‘The World with a Same Dream’. Jingning's She Zu Ribbon Show was part of the second chapter ‘The Resonance of Mountains and Waters’. It selected 12 She actors and divided them into three groups, telling the story of the evolution of the She ribbons and culture.
